The latest trends in baby gear revolves around convertible, functional products. Whether it’s cribs that grow with your baby and turn into toddler beds, or baby bath tubs that allow for multiple positions to hold your baby as he or she grows. One of the most important items you’ll buy for your baby is a stroller, and most stroller companies are now developing their products to include inserts for car seats, adjustable seat positions to accommodate infants and toddlers alike, and even can convert from a single baby stroller to a double. With this in mind, we tested the Uppababy Cruz, Vista & City Select and found out which is the best convertible stroller and is perfect for you based on your needs.
Not all strollers are alike, and that is the case even between the Uppababy Cruz & Vista. While those two strollers are made by the same company, there are some key differences to know that will help you choose the best convertible stroller for your growing family. Likewise, the City Select has a lot of similar features as the Uppababy, but also some key differences. In the end, each the Uppababy Cruz, Vista & City Select are all worthwhile products, but we like each one for different reasons and for different family needs. Also be sure to see our comparison of Bob and Thule strollers.
Winner: Baby Jogger City Select Review
While the Baby Jogger City Select does have a 2018 version, we tested the 2016 version that is nearly identical, but costs $100 less than the newer model. This best convertible stroller is nearly identical to the Uppababy Cruz, and makes for easy folding and storage, and provides a nearly identical smooth ride. The biggest difference is that the City Select has a hand brake, whereas the Uppababy Cruz has a foot brake. It converts to a double stroller better than the Uppababy Cruz, but you again run into issues with accessory costs when you customize it to your needs.
What We Like:
- Great price for high end stroller
- Smooth ride and baby feels safe in all modes
- 16 customizable positions when factoring for all accessories
What We Don’t Like:
- Expensive add on accessories
- Only 6 month warranty

Runner-Up: UPPAbaby Cruz Review
The Cruz is perfect for parents with single children, as the Uppababy Cruz has a variety of seating positions, including car seat, bassinet for small babies, and front or rear facing seating for toddlers. To really get the best convertible stroller, you’ll need to purchase some add on items, like infant insert seat, snack tray, or rain guard. While these add ons can be costly, they’re not necessary, and the stroller itself folds easily and is made of quality materials that make it feel like a solid stroller.
What We Like:
- Lightweight design
- Compact when folded
- Multiple seating positions
What We Don’t Like:
- Expensive replacement parts and accessories
- Not ideal for more than one child

Best For Two Children: UPPAbaby Vista Review
The Uppababy Vista is one of the best convertible strollers because it looks exactly like the Uppababy Cruz, but it accommodates two children much better than the Cruz. When comparing the Uppababy Cruz vs Vista, you’ll notice the Vista is larger in size with larger wheels and a larger basket. We love that you can convert to two seats of your choosing, which include a bassinet and a toddler seat, two bassinets, or two toddler seats either facing each other or both facing the same direction.
What We Like:
- Customizable, especially for two children
- Comes with bassinet (Cruz you have to buy separately)
- Smooth ride and stable construction
What We Don’t Like:
- One of more costly strollers on the market
- Heavier than Uppababy Cruz
Price:
Final Verdict: Uppababy Cruz vs Vista vs City Select
If your goal is to have the best convertible stroller for two kids, then the Uppababy Vista is your best bet. For single baby strollers, we liked the overall feel, and price tag, of the Baby Jogger City Select a little more than the Uppababy Cruz. The hand brake felt better and allowed us more control than the foot brake. Every product we tested were all solid strollers and would make great additions to your lineup of baby products.
